Concerned about what goes on in town? Want to see Arcola grow? Want to help Arcola residents?
If you answered yes to any of these questions you should consider running for council. The upcoming Municipal General Election is Wednesday October 26th. The term for council is 4 years, ending in October 2020.
Anyone interested in running for council can pick up a nomination form at the office, and after having 5 signatures can drop back off. Forms will be available regular business hours from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday from Friday, September 2nd to Tuesday, September 20th. The nomination form must be received by Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 by 4 pm.
Positions available are 1 – Mayor, 6 – Councillors
For your information if there is more than 1 mayor and more than 6 councillors are nominated it will go to an election. If only 1 mayor runs, and 6 or less councillors they will automatically be acclaimed.

We encourage residents to come in and fill out a nomination form. Our town operates on the decisions made by this council, so it is crucial we have motivated residents run for council. If you should have further questions about what being on council involves don’t hesitate to stop in the office or give us a call!
